What I’m Drinking: Seattle’s Best Coffee–Level 3

[ 1 ] August 16, 2012 |

My youngest daughter brought home a sample from the Iowa State Fair.  Here’s how they describe it:

Medium & Balanced Quick on the draw, you’re ready for just about anything. Adept at problem solving, you might be found playing chess, building a tree house or negotiating a business deal.Flavor Profile: Medium acidity, nutty nuance and clean finishGoes Great With: Buttery items with a vanilla flavor

I don’t know who came up with the level system, but I don’t believe it is the best way to brand coffee.  Apparently the higher the number the “more intense” coffee you’re getting.  So Level 1 is for weenies and Level 5 is for studs.  This coffee is a medium roast coffee which is ok.  I usually like a darker roast (Level 5 baby), but I’m branching out.  It came already ground which was a strike against it.  I’m becoming kind of snobbish that way about my coffee.  I’m not sure I’d buy it in the stores over other coffees I drink.  I will say it is way better than Folgers, but not great.  Just meh.  Can’t beat the price I paid for it though.

I give it a 3 out of 5 cups.

I drank Seattles at Barnes & Noble before they closed. Good stuff. Burger King carried it (still does, but I think it’s not fresh or something). Anything pre-ground or old is going to taste old. I just get the whole bean stuff (Columbian Supremo) at Sam’s and I’m a happy camper.
