In Bangladesh: Turning from Islam to Christ

Anamika in Bangladesh

Could you imagine leaving Islam for Christ if you lived in a predominately Muslim country?  Bangladesh, according to the CIA World Factbook, is 85.6% Muslim and 9.6% Hindu.  You would very much be in the minority.  Open Doors USA, a ministry that serves persecuted Christians worldwide,  provided a  video testimony from a young woman named Anamika in Bangladesh who turned from Islam to Christ when she was in 7th grade.  She learned that if she was tired and weary that Jesus would give her rest, (Matthew 11:28).  She was married to another believer, who was an evangelist, when she was in 10th grade.  She involved herself in service and started a literacy class in the village where she lived, but experienced resistance from the local Iman.

She was told by her parents that she left one nation and joined another when she left Islam for Christ, and said that she received her share of “filthy words” for leaving Islam.  She said she “has been pressured to go back to Islam many times.”

She asked for prayer for the Christian workers in Bangladesh so they can continue to reach out to Muslims.  She encouraged those who are persecuted to keep the faith and rely only on God’s word.
