Welcome to my space on the internet! ShaneVanderHart.com is where I give you a piece of my mind about faith, culture, politics, media, and public policy.
I am an Iowa native, a follower of Jesus Christ, unabashed Iowa Hawkeyes and wrestling (real wrestling, not WWE), and coffee fan. I am proud Dad of three grown kids. I live in Des Moines, Iowa.
I am the founder of 4:15 Communications, a full-service marketing and PR firm in Des Moines, Iowa. It specializes in helping small businesses, churches, non-profit groups, political organizations, companies, and political campaigns. As part of my work, I run the communications and social media for Iowa Association of Christian Schools and Iowa Alliance for Choice in Education, working with both organizations is a superb fit as I have been passionate about school choice for decades and have worked in a Christian school in Northwest Indiana as a Dean of Students and teacher.
I have 20 years of experience working with churches and Christian non-profits including as a pastor and youth pastor, and over a decade of public relations and marketing experience. He is also an experienced public speaker and trainer.
You may have read my work at Caffeinated Thoughts, a multi-contributor site that provided “stimulating Christian & conservative commentary” on culture, current events, faith, and politics from 2006 to 2023. I also launched and edited The Iowa Torch, a news site focused on Iowa politics in 2020 and ran that site until 2024. I have contributed to The Des Moines Register, POLITICO, The Hill, Daily Caller, and Fox News.

Subscribe to my newsletter to get full access to the newsletter and website. You will never miss an update (unlike Facebook where the algorithm prevents you from seeing a lot of what pages you follow and friends are posting). You can read in your inbox, on this website, or using the Substack app.
Please consider being a paid subscriber.
I do not make any advertising revenue from this newsletter, and would appreciate you becoming a paid subscriber for less than a fancy cup of coffee a month (even less if you pay annually). By becoming a paid subscriber you can access every post on the website (free posts will go behind the paywall after one week), participate in the chat, search the archive, and leave a comment.
It would certainly be an encouragement to me!
