Public Dollars and Private 'Choice'
The left supports public dollars for private purposes all of the time when it is a cause they support.
State Senator Amy Sinclair, R-Allerton, offered the best rebuttal I've heard to the "public dollars for public education" argument made by school choice opponents. In her closing remarks during the Iowa Senate debate over SF 2369 that, if signed into law, would create Iowa's first education savings account program, she completely dismantled it.
"There are those who would tell you, Mr. President, there are those who would tell you that public money should only be used for public purposes, just like we heard tonight. But if that's the arbiter in this conversation, what about all the other public dollars use being used for private purposes?" Sinclair asked.
